Welcome.

I'm a graphic and interactive designer. I live in New York City, but frequent Los Angeles. This is where I toss my ridiculous ideas, conversations, inspirations, etc. I can be reached at info@ashleysimko.com

Some people have grandmothers who bake them gross food, buy them ugly sweaters and smell funny. Luckily, both of mine are legitimately awesome. My mom’s mom (Mitzi) is essentially a modern-day superwoman. When she isn’t traveling, she splits her time between trying to conquer the stock market, practicing Reiki, and volunteering at the Special Education center near her house in Connecticut. I’ve always admired Mitzi, but I don’t think I truly understood appreciated just how incredible she was until last winter - when I watched her playing the organ at her own mother’s funeral. I remember watching her force back tears as she played each note perfectly…
Yesterday, I received a postcard Mitzi sent from Iceland - where she’s temporarily paused after bouncing around the world for the last 30-something days. Topics of interest: she’s gone through 10 disposable cameras (she refuses to use a digital one because she’s convinced she will lose it), whether or not her garden at home is a sea of weeds, and how well my project in Los Angeles went. Adorable alert! (photo via)
