Wrist of Veronica Beard… During Fashion Week, we had drinks at Veronica Beard’s stunning apartment to celebrate the clothing line that she started with her sister-in-law (who, incidentally, is also named Veronica Beard). It only makes sense that the line is named Veronica Beard as well. Anyway, while we were chatting I couldn’t help but notice the pile of gold upon her wrist. I asked her about it and she went on to explain that each bracelet had a special meaning. It’s been a while, so the details are a bit dusty but here’s the gist of it: the script-covered cuff has the words of a personal letter, the charm bracelet was her grandmother’s and the barbed wire-ish/mouse trap-ish one was a witty wedding gift from her husband “because he had finally caught [her].” It was wonderful to watch her face light up as she spoke about each piece.

Backstage at L.A.M.B... This season L.A.M.B. was divided six different divisions: Solider, Ragga, London, Buffalo, Mod and Glam. When asked about it, Gwen Stefani explained that the show was essentially made up of a group of mini fashion shows - each with their own inspiration, theme, style and runway soundtrack. She went on to explain that she doesn’t believe you should be forced to choose just one style because it should be about creating different combinations.
Gwen Stefani backstage at L.A.M.B... Every season, without fail, getting to go backstage at the L.A.M.B. show ends up being one of my favorite parts of Fashion Week. I’m a huge fan of the line as well as the team behind it. One of the things that never ceases to amaze me if how, regardless of the scene (the calm before the storm show, the paparazzi madness, interviews or interacting with her family), Stefani remains levelheaded. She always makes it a point to joke with the people around her, to answer questions, to patiently explain things and, perhaps most impressively, to listen. I find her ambition, passion and sincerity to be inspiring.

This season’s Fashion Week started just like every other with my boss at LVMH resigning, a freelance client moving a major deadline forward and yours truly falling asleep (fully dressed) soon after checking into the Gramercy Park Hotel. Do I wish I could have shared everything in real time? Of course. But, as I realized while leaning out of a bathroom window (on a conference call) during a dinner last week, things rarely go exactly as planned. I suppose that’s the fun of it. For all of these reasons, I’ve avoided posting until the dust settles. Over the next several days week I’ll be sharing a handful of photos, memories and other sound bites. I hope you enjoy them.
Thanks to my current workload, one of my the many things that I managed to miss during this season’s Fashion Week was the Chanel store opening. Luckily, several friends were in attendance… Like most good events, there were an abundance of posh people and fancy drinks. However, there were also a few unexpected treats - such as the digital graffiti installation where guests were encouraged to tag their (neon) names on massive LED screens. As always, Chanel took advantage of a branding opportunity and emblazoned each can of sensor-beamed spray paint with their iconic logo. See?
I’ve been too busy to post lately so here’s a gorgeous photo of Rachelle Hruska shot by Gordon von Steiner for GQ’s The Wandering Eye Spies… Fashion Week’s Sexiest Women to tide you over. The best part? She had no idea it was being taken until a mutual friend stumbled across it on the web.
