Life Is Not A Fairytale exhibit by Tyler Shields… I recently took a long weekend to help an old friend work on his latest exhibit in Los Angeles. My trip began by being picked up at the airport in a Range Rover of blonde strangers starlettes and concluded with a relentless hangover the morning after the opening. Although my contributions were limited to the invitation, a few curational suggestions, light editing and a touch of set up, I’m really glad that I had the opportunity to be part of it again this year.

On Monday night I went to dinner at Chateau Marmont with the boys. After catching up for a few hours, the tuxedo-clad duo thew on their shades and took to tickling the ivories (which resulted in a marvelous rendition of Golden Slumbers).

Photograph of Leven Rambin and Tyler Shields by Jordon Fink… With the exception of the the liquor license being pulled the night prior and me forgetting to pack the dress I wanted to wear, the Collisions event (and the unofficial celebration of Tyler’s birthday) went off without without a glitch. Between the military uniforms, formal attire and the antique Porsche sitting outside, it felt as though old Hollywood glamour had returned - if only for the evening.

Custom cupcakes by Crumbs… Last year, a massive cake fight broke out at Tyler Shields’ birthday bash. This year he celebrated throughout the evening with hundreds of custom cupcakes - each of which was decorated with one of his photographs. I know it’s been around for a while (and I’ve only worked with it once), but I’m still fascinated by anything involving edible art.
