Paper Chair designed by Mathias Bengtsson…

Mathias Bengtsson’s Paper Chair mixes both digital and handmade process to create a chair from recycled paper. Each of the 2000 profiles is coated with a thin film of glue, then stacked together and exposed to both pressure and heat, forming a “homogeneous 3-dimensional body.” Bengtsson uses both black and white paper to highlight the form and lend it a graphic nature. Thanks to all of the Performa events going on around the city, I’ve been stumbling across some interesting new spots. I took this photo of Chashama 679 (while there for Christian Tomaszewski’s show) this weekend… I still have a soft spot for stripes. Seriously.

The first pair of obnoxious sneakers that I ever purchased (accidentally) matched my living room walls in all of their bright green glory. So I suppose it’s only appropriate that my second has turned out to (almost) match my living room rug. Presenting the newest addition to my closet: Reebok’s Freestyle Hi Int Neopolitan. They were the last pair left and they happen to be exactly my size. See also: fate. My mother helped me call them ugly while rolling her eyes pick them out while she was in town. I know, I know… They’re arguably the most hideous high tops on the planet, but I absolutely adore them.
